Dave first joined ISU in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics in 1974. He has held several administrative positions at ISU including Chairman of Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics and Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Budget of the College of Engineering. In 2004 he was named Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Dean of the Graduate College.
His areas of professional expertise are acoustics and noise control. He and his students have published numerous papers on various aspects of noise control and he is the co-holder of three U.S. patents.
Dave has also been active in professional and institutional service throughout his career. He is currently serving as chair of the Engineering Accreditation Commission and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and an Associate Fellow of the AIAA.
Dave received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1970, 1971, and 1974, respectively.
