Guidelines for Term Research Faculty Appointments

The policy for Term Research Faculty appears in the following sections of the Faculty Handbook:

  • 5.4.5 Evaluation, Renewal, and Advancement of Term Research Faculty

As detailed in 3.3.3, units may make Term Research Faculty appointments only if college and department documents include policy sections on the following: defining Term Research Faculty positions (expectation for the terminal degree in the field, specifications on the independence of the research); recruitment and appointment processes, including conversions for current employees; review, renewal and promotion procedures; and departmental rights and responsibilities (voting, committees, etc.).
