Rob has 20 years of experience in public relations, media relations, internal communications, issues management, and crisis communication. He holds a master’s degree in organizational communication from Wayne State University in Detroit, and he is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America. Prior to joining Iowa State University, Rob worked in Des Moines at both Wellmark Blue Cross-Blue Shield and the Principal Financial Group, where he led media relations, served as media spokesperson, and had overall leadership for employee and Human Resources internal business communications.
In his role within the academic division, Rob manages executive communications including speechwriting and correspondence, media and public relations for the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, strategic communications, and communication on policies and initiatives, as well as the University Lectures program.
