Description
Purpose: The Professional and Scientific Excellence Award recognizes and honors professional and scientific staff members who have been employed by Iowa State University for more than five (5) years and who have achieved excellence in their respective fields.
Eligibility: Employed by Iowa State University for more than five (5) consecutive years and achieved excellence in their respective field. Recipients must be Iowa State employees at the time of the University Awards Ceremony.
Nature of the award: $2,500 one-time stipend
Number of awards: Up to three (3)
Criteria: Demonstrated professional contributions/service within the university (to the university, department/school or unit, other departments/schools or units, and the P&S system). The nominee should be able to show evidence of career progression, such as promotions and career advancement in their field, through contributions to the wider community, state, regional, or national organizations and initiatives.
Guidelines:
1. Completed staff university award nomination cover page [DOC]
2. One (1) letter of support from a supervisor of the nominee.
3. One (1) nomination letter that describes how the nominee meets the criteria and includes a) evidence of progressive career advancement, b) includes dates and durations, where applicable, of roles and projects.
4. One (1) additional supporting letter (internal or external to ISU) from an individual who is knowledgeable of the nominee's contributions to ISU and can cite examples relating to the criteria.
5. Abbreviated vita/resume of no more than four (4) pages
Nominations for P&S Awards may be submitted by an individual, employing unit, or college. The nominations will be housed in a confidential file and the nominator will receive notification of successful submission within 10-15 minutes.
